Yes. The whole game is free with no ads and no tracking — nothing is paywalled. There’s an optional “tip jar” (the heart on the home screen) if you’d like to support development, but it’s entirely optional and unlocks nothing.
Tips are a small thank-you, not a purchase of content, so they unlock nothing — the game is already fully free. Apple processes every tip through the App Store; we never see your name, card, or payment details. If a tip didn’t complete, Apple won’t have charged you, and you can simply try again or skip it.
Everything — your levels, stars, daily streak, paintings, custom levels, and settings — is stored on your device. There are no accounts, so progress doesn’t sync between devices on its own. It is included in your encrypted iCloud/iTunes device backups if those are enabled, so restoring a device backup brings your progress with it.
There’s one puzzle per day, the same for every player, generated from the date. Earn three stars to share a result card with friends.
Tap Create a Level, choose a target color and the tubes needed to mix it, then beat it once to confirm it’s solvable. Tap Share to get a link — anyone with the app can open the link and play your level instantly. No account needed.
You earn florins every time you beat a level (deeper levels pay more). Spend them in the Gallery to unlock famous public-domain masterpieces — each with a short, true story. Spending florins never lowers your rank. Add any you’ve unlocked to your workshop wall, where one shows behind the play area each level (rotating with your own paintings).
Earn three stars on a level to unlock a blank canvas. Paint freely; your artwork is saved in your Gallery and framed on the next level’s wall. You can share any painting from its detail view in the Gallery.
Yes. Turn on Color-blind mode in Settings. It gives every tube a high-contrast tag — R / Y / B / W / K for the pure primaries, and a short unique code (like OR, SL, MM) for mixed colors, so no two tubes ever read the same. Tap a tag to see that color’s full name, and the target shows its hex code (in Sandbox, the jar shows the live mixed color’s name and hex as you pour). Every puzzle is solvable without relying on hue. Color Bar also supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and Reduce Motion.
Tap the ? button during any level to replay that mechanic’s walkthrough on demand. You can also turn the automatic interactive tutorials on or off in Settings.
Deleting the app removes all on-device data (progress, paintings, custom levels, and settings). Reinstalling starts you fresh.
